Could a fully fit Ched play behind the front two?

Just thinking he could score a few from distance and set quite a few up!

A fully fit Ched firing on all cylinders is an exciting proposition.
I still say those 6 months in league 1 are the best striking performances I’ve seen at the Lane since Brian Deane.

However as said many times it’s hard to believe Ched could return to his former standards.
Wouldn’t write him off yet and I still expect him to be decent at this level
But would imagine he’ll be more of a sub and will get his chance when the other strikers lose form.
We seem to have loads of options now and that’s what Ched will be.....just an option.

Sorry, no footballing brain or activity levels needed for the most intelligent position on the field.

Just think people saying hes too old and slow only have to look at Clarke and Don and how fit and strong they look! Says a lot about our backroom staff!

Was poor at championship level before he got banged up and got older and slower. Why would he be better now at this level?

He wasn’t poor in the CC....he was average/ ordinary and underwhelming based on the big transfer fee.
However just as his contract was about to end he showed that he was far superior to league 1 standard and really stood out.
Based on that form to be honest he looked nearer to PL standard than CC.
However some players are flat track bullies and can perform brilliantly up to a certain level, then struggle once there.

We already have arguably our player of the season (so far) in that position, and then our wonderkid, and then a signing that Wilder has chased for half a year.

If Evans gets into the team, I’m sure it’ll be as a striker.

From what Wilder has said, I think he’ll get a shot sooner or later. I’ll be interested to see how he does. As good as he was in 2011/12, it was in a notably weaker league and, let’s not forget, he was outscored that season - by Jordan Rhodes. I mean, if we’re talking about players who don’t have any outstanding physical attributes but scored loads in the football league a few years ago...

this obsession with Evans is ridiculous, I'd be very surprised if he starts 10 more games for us in his career.
Nobody is obsessed with him ! He was banging em in for fun before he went down and i think he can get back to that level with CW/AK and the backroom staff we have Plus he will repay the faith most showed in him at the time by giving 110% im confident of this and he will prove the doubters wrong just like Clarke has!!

Was he?
He was top scorer playing up front in one of the most painful to watch dog shit teams we've ever had.

But in answer to the OP he would be better at striker leaving the hole to Brooks, Duffy, Holmes. Even Wilson could probably play there.

That's one position we aren't short of options

He's currently just 4 goals behind Rhodes this season, it would be funny if he caught and passed him before the end of the season

We have 2 specialists in that position and in Brooks a player who will probably end up playing there too.

Ched Evans should absolutely not be in with a shout of playing there. The position requires a lot more than just scoring a few from distance. He’s a striker and he needs to fight for a position up front.

The anger/ resentment towards Ched is also rediculous, not saying that’s you.
But some of our fans are quick to forget his great performances.
It’s as though it never happened and they want to write him off because they simply don’t want him to play for us.

I try to be neutral and make comments based on the whole picture.
As already said we have plenty of attacking midfield options that look far better.
So Ched will be down the pecking order and needs to impress in training.

Agree I’ll also be surprised if he starts more than 10 games, think he’ll get used off the bench.
As I said can’t see him ever being a regular...he’ll just be a squad player, mainly sub with the odd start.

Think youre right to be honest how many left footers we got up front now as left sided up front will be where he plays if he ever gets back in

Also think he could play left side of a front three plan b when 352 aint working!

It's a shame he was not banging them in for fun before we went down.
I think he is already busting a gut to try and get back to something like and already giving as you say 110%. We as fans are just not satisfied with that 110% because at the moment it is not getting him near the first team.
If the above makes me a 'doubter', then I like 99.9% of the doubters would love to be proved wrong.

I do have my doubts but do think hes got plenty left in him to do a job for us!

I really hope Duffy doesn’t read this forum.

You’ve been superb so far this season Duff, but we’re going to drop you to play someone who’s barely played for six years, even though he’ll be out of position.

I know it’s only a suggestion, but it’s a strange one.

Beat me to it

Saw a bit of the U23 game on Facebook last night, and whilst he held the ball well at times he still looked sluggish in his movements to me.

Big game in the cup coming up for him if he plays, may be make or break time soon.

I don't hate Ched but I don't like him very much either.

Football wise it'll be a miracle if he gets anywhere near where he was - and I don't feel any personal attachment to his succss or failure either. I genuinely don't understand why so many people do
