Afternoon all,

Roygbiv and I talk about the last game of the season in this one, and then reflect on the season as a whole (I want to savour this season a bit more before I start thinking too much about next year), casting our minds back to preseason expectations and trying to pinpoint the moment where we realised we were good. That said, we do end the podcast by talking about players we might realistically consider from the three relegated sides. Also included: more love for Leon, admiration for Redmond, Baldock playing every minute of the season, and plenty more.

Cheers for listening - season awards and a look back at our preseason predictions in next week's ep.

Apple and Spotify links are theer too.

Fantastic work this season - looking forward to a listen to this and your end of season stuff

Us amateurs at Tufty Club will do a quick end of season one tonight and put out but sure yours will have the attention to detail and length our quick fire one won't (sounds wrong in all sorts of ways that comment!!!)

My end of season stuff will be winging its way on these boards this week - stuck Part 1 up

Did you do an Everton pod ?

Yes but Roy failed a fitness test so we didn't record til Wednesday, by which point I didn't know if it'd be worth clogging up S2 with a thread about it :D Here it is just on the off-chance you'd like to listen to us talk about a 1-0 defeat a whole week after it happened

You guys are like a comfy pair of slippers to an old guy like me.

I was a bit pissed off with the second half yesterday, but I played about with season stats and felt a bit better.

Now I’ve listened to your podcast, with a mug of steaming black coffee and a large glass (x2!) of Islay Scotch and my world is back in gear.

Truly magic days.

His mum would have made him get up (and brush his hair, tuck his shirt in and tidy his room)

I didn't know if it'd be worth clogging up S2 with a thread about it

Never bothered me and loads of others!

Thanks again lads for the really enjoyable podcasts all season, including the lockdown specials.
Top effort and way beyond what we pay you for!

I feel I should, just for completions sake!

Look forward to this and any other post season content you have planned.

Great content as always, you should both be proud of your service for our great club.

Top work, everyone involved in the podcast - it's been a great listen. I really like that it doesn't take a knee-jerk approach. Keeping them coming!

Loved listening as always, excellent work throughout the season boys!

Looking forward to the end of season awards pod!

I thought you were just embarrassed that you'd called Wes Foderingham Will Fodderingham and neither of you noticed. Came on here to look for the thread but none was to be found. Cowards 😂

But more importantly great work on the pod. Me and my other half both set our watches by it, the week just doesn't feel right without a Bladespod. Having said that, enjoy your time off!

I genuinely had not realised that til now 😳 I own a few books by Will FoTHeringham so obviously just defaulted to that! Not sure what Roy’s excuse is

I've been catching up with about a years worth of these over the last few weeks.
Brilliant listening and thank you for the time and effort you both put in to them.
Also, thank you to Roygbiv for bringing to light something I didn't realise for the four years I've been on here plus previous read only time I've spent here.
Until you mentioned Deadbat by name I've always had a blind spot here and was convinced his user name was Deadbeat, despite the give away cricket avatar.

You never pick me up on Boldock or Zicro-vich so seemed harsh.

Agree....really enjoyed your productions....very professional with generally a positive feel good vibe.

Initially had reservations about Andrew...as I’d become familiar to listening to last years stats guy.
Appreciate that Andrew specialises on the “view from” comments however you’re both nice and tend to have similar view points.
Sometimes to make a show entertaining you need some controversy to shake things up or at least disagree more often.
However I think its the case that whenever there’s a new presenter they take time to be fully accepted.

I think a factor that should have been mentioned in the season review was our change of style following the Liverpool game.

First few games we were understandably quite defensive/ cautious/ forming a solid defence and we’d rely on counter attack. Then we realised we were over respecting the opposition. So we became more expensive and started controlling games with some slick possession. We looked a really good team, we often looked better than the opposition. Opposition fans struggled to understand how their teams were generally outplayed..
.hence the opposition fans comments ‘that was our worse performance of the season” or even “that’s the worse we‘ve played in years”

However away at Liverpool we were totally outclassed, created the odd chance but hardly had any possesion.

Since that defeat we seem to have lost our confidence.....or maybe Wilder has changed our tactics.
Instead of keeping possession and patiently building attacks through McGoldrick, we’ve relied more on Norwood with the long ball.
We’ve become more pragmatic, more like the displays in the first few weeks where we’ve defended in numbers and over used to long ball on the break.

Think first half of the season we played some brilliant stuff...best SU team I’ve seen...think Man Utd, Burnley at home.....think Spurs, Wolves away.
These performances gained us our reputation for playing entertaining football.....and I felt confident no matter who the opposition was home or away.

However second half of the season we’ve become more of the cliche team....”tough to play against” because we defend in numbers and work hard.
