Excuses but I've had a jar or two and I ain't no Keats but here is my limerick in homage to 'King Billy'

There is a fat striker named Billy
Who gives goalkeepers the willies
Although he lacks pace
He ghosts into space
And makes defenders look silly.

He is good though isn't he,love him and treasure him.

He proposed a rhyme while hammered
His second line did not rhyme with the first
A Blade he is, so we forgive his outburst
I'm shit at limericks too, as you probably gathered

Saying the Young Spaniards was crap
So why didn’t he shut his trap
Because the verse and the rhyme was just shite!

First, second, and fifth lines should have the same number of syllables. You could correct this by saying "the goalkeepers" and "the defenders" to keep the rhythm intact.

5/10. Lost points for lack of proper structure and referring to a limerick as an ode but I do look forward to your future work.
