Was great to be back in the stadium and smashing result 5-2 against Genk. Holzhauser man of the match again and already 5 goals and 3 assists in 5 games. Not bad for a central mid.

How old is this lad and sounds like the type of player we are crying out for an attacking midfielder that can score goals.

27, he played for Stuttgart and Augsburg in Bundesliga and had one bad season with Grashoppers Zürich in 2018 when they were relegated. We then signed him on a free transfer and at the moment he is the best midfielder in Belgian pro league. Whether he could be PL material is difficult to say. He is a bit atypical for modern football. He plays like an old fashioned nr 10. I can compare him with Mat LeTissier. Fantastic left foot, very dangerous from free kicks but don’t expect him to run a marathon.

Thanks for that must be a quality player then, we are crying out for an attacking midfielder and striker.

Good luck to you for the rest of the season will be keeping an eye out for your results.

Next game for us is this Friday evening. We play Charleroi away who won all their 5 games and are in 1st position. They play as a defensive unit and are expert in punishing the opponents’ mistakes on the counter. We won 4 out of 5 so far and are 2nd. We had a very tough programme with Brugge, Standard, Genk and now Charleroi. After this we are facing some easier opposition so hopefully we can stay in the top 4.

Teams for tonight

Bad result today, losing 3-1 in Charleroi. No Coulibaly yet but with this result I expect him in the team next week.

Cracking game today. 0-2 behind after 10 minutes. 1-2 just before half time. The. 2-2 with 10 minutes to go. We score the winner in the 90th minute, only for var to rule it out. And then bam, in the last minute of extra time 96th minute the winner goes in 3-2. 2 assists again for Holzhauser, goals from Tissoudali, Suzuki and Brogno.

Wasnt there a team called Germinal Beerschot? Is this a phoenix club? When we can travel again i fancy a cycle down to Antwerp to watch them.

It will be interesting to see if some of your star players rip up the Belgian league wether the Prince and CW move them over here for evaluation?

Coulibaly obviously because we loan him from you. Suzuki, Japanese international also possible. If he scores 20 or so, he could be one that can reach PL level.

Bad day for us, losing 5-1. Worst performance so far. We missed 2 players because of last minute positive covid test but that’s no excuse for the poor mentality today. Coulibaly made his debut. You can see he is talented but he’s no finished product. Needs to become stronger and learn tactically. We hope this was a good lesson for our team because our second game after the break is the City derby and we can’t afford a performance like today in that game which will define our season.

Beerschot-Sint Truiden: 5-1 at half time and all our strikers are out with corona (noubissi, Suzuki and Eleke). Football can be a strange game. Coulibaly is playing very solid. I like him. Hopefully some more goals in the second half.

Joint top goalscorers. Also second in goals against tally. The entertainers!

Short up-date: we lost the derby last Sunday 3-2 but were the superior team for three quarter of the game. Problem is that our defense leaks goals. Midfield and attacking wise remain excellent. Coulibaly had a fantastic game and looked the best player on the pitch. This weekend we play OH Leuven (same owners as Leicester City) and the team we beat to win the second division title. Will be a difficult game nonetheless because they are just 1 place behind us and they have beaten Club Brugge last weekend. A win will take us to the top of the table, at least temporary until the 3 teams in front of us have played. For anyone interested: we have launched our online webshop today so you can order your Coulibaly printed shirts as of now 😄
