McAllister
Badger
Hemsley
Flynn
Colquhoun
Eddy
Woodward
Field
Dearden
Currie
Salmons

An alternative 'favourite' XI. Not the most gifted, but for some reason I enjoyed watching all these play. Might be because they were plain bonkers, great attitude, commitment, quality or remembered particular performances.

Burridge
Kozluk
Bolton
Vonk
Hodgson
Morris
Patterson
Hutchison
Whitehouse
Walker
Bone

Hodgkinson
Coldwell Shaw(G)
Richardson Shaw (J) Summers
Lewis Russell Pace Hodgson Simpson

Anyone who grew up in the late 50s/early 60s grew up with that line-up. Not the best 11 players of all time, but certainly my favourite Blades team.

Often said you take 1-6 from Harris' 60s team and 7-11 from his 70s team. So bolt on Woody, Salmons, Dearden, TC & Reece on to your 1-6 and presto, the favourite and best XI of all time in my time.

Could create a little debate.
On this podcast (the penultimate episode) Blades Superfan Greenwich Blade shares his Sheffield United favourite XI that he has seen with his own eyes. I cannot believe some of the legends he left out! Would welcome your teams.

Talking favourites (that I saw), not necessarily the best players!

This is slowly changing though, Coutts, Fleck, O'Connell, Duffy, Basham could all make it in there to be honest.

I thought the teams we were picking were our 'favourite' and not 'best' eleven?

My 11 is based on reasons personal to my experience watching United. My 'best' 11 would look completely different.

I partly agree but my favourite and best are pretty similar.

Four of my XI in your first choice, none in the second, although Jim Bone might challenge Deano.

Three of my XI

I’m going for what I think would be an effective side, made up of SOME of my favourite players:-

Kelly
Jagielka Maguire Nilsen
Borbokis Currie Brown Whitehouse Woody
Deane Sharp

Give us a break Billy...I've already sorted my, forever, dream partnership as Deane and Edwards....:)

It's like my Desert Island Discs. There's one from 1995, another from 1988, with the rest from the 1970s and as far as I'm concerned that's it, it's a closed group. Even if the Best Album In The World By Anybody Ever was released next week, I'd be in denial. "The last spot goes to Disco Volante by Mr. Bungle; now bugger off with your blindingly good Major Parkinson album!"

Thought to bring back this topic again and bump it following the season we have just had. :D

3-4-3

GK - Dean Henderson - 1
RWB - Kyle Walker - 2
RCB - Paul McGrath - 3
CB - Harry Maguire - 6
LCB - Jack O'Connell - 5
LWB - Enda Stevens - 11
CM - John Fleck - 4
CM - Oliver Norwood - 8
LF - Alan Woodward - 7
RF - Tony Currie - 10
ST - Billy Sharp - 9

Definitely hard choice on who to give No. 10
