Hull's gamesmanship

Very frustrating which the ref didn't make any attempt to tackle. There was hardly any football for the first 20 minutes and how their goalkeeper didn't get booked for time-wasting I dint know!

Booking the Goalkeeper is a total waste of time, he would still waste time and no Referee would ever issue a second Yellow.

The keeper got away with the very same ‘trick’ every single goal kick. It became so ridiculous that even he felt he needed to break it up with a bit of hide and seek with the man laying behind the advertising hoardings for a little while.

Of course the first one to do it would stop it stone dead. But that seems too simple a solution.

Like the so-called injuries. I was at an important game where they had a motorised stretcher. The minute a player went down as if pole-axed he was carted off for treatment and the referee studiously avoided his eye when he wanted to get on. A second one was treated the same way. No-one else did it.

We always struggle though against shithousing teams. Why. I don’t know. Easier said than done but fuck me we need more pace in the side. Somebody to cut inside and have a crack at goal, something different now and again.

Unless they introduce a clock which is stopped when the ball is dead, I think they will have to instruct referees to do just that. Could do with a 15-minute sinbin for 2 time-wasting yellow cards. And a full red card for a second offence in the last 15 minutes, with suspension to follow. We don’t pay to watch a goalkeeper put the ball down, then wait til he has a drink, then moves the ball again before kicking it eventually. In the first half!

I think we let them frustrate us far too much, start of the second half was the only time we really looked like scoring, after that we got too frustrated at their shithousing and 10 men behind the ball, everything went to hopeful punts up to the strikers or diagonal balls to the wrong backs which were easily intercepted. We've had the same struggles for a long time when teams sit in, either teams settling for a draw or defending a lead

I'll grant them the two early stoppages for treatment, but the timewasting tactics from 20 minutes onwards was outrageous. Norwich got a pisstaking song dedicated to them for less.

Hope they go down.

I think the first stoppage was a sign of who much they could push their luck. 2nd stoppage was for a genuine injury but after that for Hull it really was a question of how much can we get away with now.

The ref hadn't got the bottle to give a big decision but he gave every small decision to them throughout the match.

I’ve just posted this on Roy’s thread but this is perhaps a more appropriate one…

I have ta say I’m thankful I don’t have to watch Hull every week. They brought us down to their level and we got worse as the game wore on. Hull reminded me of Norwich a few seasons ago, a horrible spoiling dreadful side to watch. No intention of entertaining the fans, just spoiling the game and looking for a lucky break. They should be made to refund everyone in the ground the entrance fee because nobody wants to watch that.

If they did introduce an official time keeper, who stopped the clock every time the ball went dead, we’d still be sat there now and don’t forget, some people have got work in the morning!

There seemed to be a lot of young hoodlums running around after the match looking for a fight. Was that because of lack of entertainment on the pitch?

As others have said, the goalkeepers time wasting was terrible. Each time they had a goal kick he feigned to take it short but then waved the defenders away. I don't think he took it short once!

He took his time holding the ball as well. I always count and and I estimate he held the ball for at least 12 seconds on several occasions. As I understand, it's supposed to be 6 seconds (but at this time of night I can't be bothered to check that). It's about time referees sorted them out

Fair play to them. You play to the ref and they had him figured out early on.
They came for a result and got one and the gamesmanship played a part.

Be angry at the ref, not their tactics.
It makes the game dull as fuck, and is very frustrating, but I can totally understand why every team does it. You can softly, but intentionally, kick the ball away after every foul or throw in (united included) and nothing ever gets done about it. It'd be nice to see it punished.

Not sure we can complain.

We haven't exactly been in the relegation places in the Shithousing League of late either.

Even tonight Baldock was involved Ina few bits of argy bargy, a few of their lads ended up being pushed into the hoardings and short of being given a whistle by the ref pretty sure both Gibbs-White and Norwood wanted to referee the game!

In the very early part of the game I got a sense we would overrun them. They clearly thought this too and that's why we ended up with around 11 minutes of stoppage time.

Yep in the first 10-15 minutes they couldn't cope with our tempo and were struggling badly.

Then they found a way to get the game to a pace which suited them better.

No problem with Hull, they did what they had to do...ref was another in the constant trail of dire officials...
The main problem is our lack of a replacement for Billy...

Did a Norwich on us & the wanker of a ref let them get away with it , has to be said if RND stays down after that tosser Honeymans challenge he gets a straight red & reverse the situation around all there players would have , our players too honest for their own good sometimes .
I wouldn’t watch fkg Hull if they were playing in my my garden .

When they DID play, thought their left winger Lewis-Potter? looked good first half. Left our men for dead a few times and caused a few problems.
