The Blades reserves visited the pleasant surroundings of the Look Local Stadium, otherwise known as Bracken Moor, looking to get into the last minute thoughts of Danny Wilson.

A number of players will have given Wilson something to think about as the Blades XI ran out comfortable winners on the evening.

A small squad, naming only three substitutes; included trialists Ben Alnwick (from Tottenham Hotspur) and Jimmy Oates.

The Steels keeper was to be fairly busy early doors, twice saving well from Danny Philliskirk.

He could do nothing the prevent Philliskirk‘s third effort though, with the ex-Chelsea man calmly slotting home with the deftest of touches past the onrushing Scott after a long clearance from his opposite number Alnwick.

Around ten minutes later the Blades were two up, Philliskirk and Tønne linking up well and drawing out the Steels defence to create space for Jimmy Oates who calmly placed the Norwegian’s cross low into the back of the net.

Just minutes later, the rampant visitors were at it again with Oates this time turning provider for Seamus Conneely who calmly rounded the keeper and almost embarrassingly walked the ball into the goal.

Stocksbridge were working hard but any sign of a threat was dealt with effectively by the Blades rearguard. Barry and Kennedy in particular were looking mature against their seasoned opponents.

Early in the second half, the Steels nearly turned the ball into their own net; Anthony Lloyd the nervous onlooker watching his wayward clearance from Matty Harriott’s ball into the box.

It wasn’t too long before a fourth goal arrived for United, with Jimmy Oates bagging his brace with a cool finish after Chapell and Philliskirk had efforts blocked.

It was no more than the Blades deserved and they could have gone even further infront but for the outstretched hand of Scott, keeping out a fierce Jordan Chapell effort.

Aaron Barry had a effort which flashed just beyond the woodwork from around 30 yards as the Blades dominance continued.
