Wouldnt mind Wellens even at 35

I'd rather us go for someone like Bostwick.

No Ta. Would have loved to see him at the lane 5 years ago but not now

We need a centre back.

We need a centre back.

We need a CM more. If Basham gets injured we are pretty much screwed, unless we can rely on an injury prone Wallace to marshall the midfield.

Not saying that Wellens is the player we want but an experienced midfielder would be very welcome right now.

I don't get this panic around the CB position. Forget Gillingham, that won't happen again. Even if we lose Edgar I think we have enough cover, possibly including Basham, hence the greater need for another CM.

When Blackwell was in charge I went to the radio sheffield live footy heaven and there was a question which was basically 'who would you want to sign from the other managers on the table'. They all avoided saying anything interesting to a good question but KB looked straight at SOD and said 'he knows who I'd sign' alluding to a refused bid. I always wondered if it was Wellens as I quite liked what I saw of him. He went to Leicester not long after I believe, probably on daft money as they were splashing the wages at the time.

As for now. I have no idea. I'd be wary he'd be a Flitcroft (remember him?)

genuine centre backs at the club are

Edgar - international call ups
Collins - already missed games injured
Kennedy - won't be fit often enough
Magahey - Who knows if he's good enough

Possible cover includes
Mceverley - he's a full back, can cover the odd game
Basham - as you say weakens midfield, why bother if you don't have to
Brayford - he's a full back, can cover the odd game
Alcock - no thanks
K Wallace - who knows if he's good enough

So I can see your argument, we have 9 possible options at Centre back but only really 2 first choice players (and I'm including Collins in that). Still looks like an area we need a specialist in to me

It was Gareth Roberts who was just about to sign for Derby from Donny i think if I remember rightly

Not sure if I know who that is to be honest. . . I wish they'd all answered honestly and when it got to Brian Laws KB just went 'er...actually you can keep all yours'
