Doesn't look like he is in the team for Wednesday. Looking at his wife's Instagram they are in dubai, went last Thursday

James Wallace is such an immense talent that it was well worth the gamble on signing him.

"Immense talent" - obvious when watching him and Ronnie Moore couldn't have been more complimentary about the lad.

It could all work out in time and he has the kind of ability which will transport to the Championship and above.

MOTD 2019 - " And this lad Wallace is one who has been there for the full Clough journey from nowhere to Europe"

And played five times

Yep, if only football was full of players like John Ebrell. That 20 minutes will never be forgotten.
:)

Not at all sure Ebrell was any where near as good.

The trouble with Ebrell was mostly the ex-Everton connection - dare I say?

Out for 4-6 weeks, apparently. Sigh.

I'll be surprised if we see much of him again this season. Clough didn't exactly sound like it was a case of giving him double the recovery time and that'll sort it for good. With Coutts's arrival, we have an abundance of options in the middle of midfield anyway. Perhaps we should just consider the season a write-off for him and hope that a summer of pre-season will sort him.

The point being that being fit to take the pitch is every bit a part of football as doing poncey Cruyff turns.

What is it with us signing players from scouseland and them not being fit for work? Just saying.

Have you written him off? We got him for peanuts bear in mind.

I would give him the rest of the season to get fully fit and just use him as a sub if required . The bloke cost nowt , but a £1m talent when firing on all cylinders.

UTB.

In this case the Chief Scout and manager can only be guided by the medical staff. How can all you blokes be so critical of one of their signings?;) Given an OK by the medic I reckon Wallace could be the man for us in due course. If not, shame.

Clough was asked last week if he would send out Walace on loan. He said "oh no he's much too important to us than that"

Of course not. But we haven't got him for nothing. He'll have "earned" £200,000 already to fund his trips to Dubai. He looks to have promise, but so far, we've had exactly fuck all in return.

Might be wrong, but didn't we have to pay a compensation fee to Tranmere similar to the fee we paid Blackpool for McGahey?

Possibly. And no doubt a nice signing on fee. And no doubt up to £500,00 per year.

None of it is his fault, but let's be clear about who's losing out here, and it's not the bloke on the beach in Dubai.

From what I understand the injuries he has suffered this season are not related to the bad one he had at Tranmere. It's bad luck for the lad and for us, I just wish him well and hope he can get through this and really perform for us, the few minutes I saw of him at Crewe made me sit up and think we might have a real player.

It begs the question 'How stringent is the medical that players go through before signing - this lad had a terrible record of injuries and since being at the Lane has struggled to get through a game - I would write off this season and give him until the start of next season to get fit and prove his fitness !
As for holidaying in Dubai - he should be here cheering on his teammates - The Beard was at QPR and he'd not even signed then !

Perhaps a warm climate was suggested by the medical staff and who's to say he's not having specialist treatment over there?

See above. The idea of modern footballers being signed for "nowt" is misplaced.

alcoblade , fair point and taken on board . However still worth a punt in my opinion . i just feel he has been unlucky with the niggley injuries . Mr Clough must rate him , and when he has played , the bloke does look class. i have no idea what deal he signed or length of contract he is on .Also i cannot see him going to that foreign country with a beach for a holiday , unless he got approval and blessing from Mr Clough in the first instance to go.

If he didnt get approval god help him.:D

Don't worry Alco, he's not another Paddy Kenny. I would never have said similar things about him. If the lad does get fit watch him play. Hope Baxter is still with us because the two grew up together. Remember the telepathy you had with your pals you grew up with.

Obviously his career is threatened by now. Wish him well and support the lad, don't resent him for things which are beyond his control.

As regards the signing it's the Clough brothers who took the risk and I agree with them.

I don't dispute any of that. And I'm quite excited about him. I'm just making the point that it's all promise.

Give me a rough arse midfielder who's fit to take the field, over a prospect who's never on it, any day.
