Need to get some baking powder in..........

it can wait til tomorrow - am enjoying the Las Palmas v Real Madrid game right now

Our lass bakes Scones.......In fact she made some last Saturday and then on the Sunday we had a lovely trip over Rother Valley for a picnic and having overdone myself on Ploughman's sandwiches, I decided to forfeit my scone to the ducks.....

They Sank!...........................

The real questions are:
  1. How do you choose to pronounce 'scone'? And;
  2. What do you put on first before the other, cream (Devon) or Jam (Cornish)?

Is it Matt Done or Done? (desperately trying to get this back to Blades chat....)

Jam then cream. Too messy the other Way round

Just finished baking a Bakewell Tart. Not bothering to do the Icing though.

It's pronounced scone and not scon. It's the word 'cone' with an 'S' in front.

And the correct way is cream, then jam. Think of the cream as a butter substitute, but better. The jam is applied thereafter. To apply the jam first would be lunacy and would lead to a congealed jam/cream clusterfuck of monstrous proportions.

End of thread.
