We've all seen on here the tick boxes that Nigel is said to use before signing a player. They include, has he played for Derby, is he a Scot, etc you get the picture.
Judging from results, there are serious omissions. if players are judged as individual and not as team performers.
Obviously missing is the box asking if said prospect can defend a set piece Can he attack the ball at a set piece
Looking at the stature of some players, these questions were never addressed, or the players were judged in isolation, on their ability to play carpet football, and to distribute the ball over short distances.
IMO very few of our players can claim to be proficient in basic areas of play.
