Tributes have been pouring in for the popular veteran rumour, The Dan Burn Rumour which died today following a short meeting with its agent.

The rumour, which began circulating on blades message boards in August 2015, quickly rose to prominence and became the most posted about bit of gossip since the Michael Brown Rumours of 2007-2014 and the James Beattie rumours of 2010. Although relatively unknown before being mentioned in passing by Blades boss Nigel Adkins, the rumour rapidly gained popularity and achieved cult status amongst many Blades observers. Foxy Fox, the self-styled web guru and leader of premier Blades forum S24SU said he was devastated at the news adding “At its height, there were at least 4 or 5 new threads an hour being created. It was mental. I just can’t believe it’s gone.” A candle lit vigil was held on Bladesmad – not real candles obviously. You couldn’t trust that lot with real matches – and in the car park at Bramall Lane, fans laid computer keyboards in tribute.
