I think so

I think we can honestly say that for the first time apart from right back we have at least 2 specialist players in each position.

We now don't have to play Basham at centre back or a centre back at left back or a striker at left wing, etc...

Brilliant transfer window, team finally looks like a squad of real players, some young, so experienced perfect mix

One con is that with so much of a change it might take a while for them to work well together, fans have to be patient, give it till XMAS before we start becoming critical of players and manager.

This season we might not get promotion but the team is looking in good shape

Much better than past season, where transfer windows have slow and when it shuts, their is a long list of players where we just left it to late to get.

Wilder and his transfer team have done better than last year and seasons before, really exciting team.

My only two gripes really are that I still think we need a central midfielder and I would have really liked a more proven centre half than the ones we have brought in. I just wish we'd have spent a bit of they money we have recouped on one of these positions. As its stands we are relying on Basham in midfield and a group of centre backs that have never proven themselves throughout a season at this level

Lafferty is a quick correction to Hussey clearly not working (as Moore was to correct for Wilder giving Long the keeper's jersey). We now have options at the back, variety up front.

The midfield still concerns me though. I'm hoping this rumoured "final deal" would add to our options in the middle, where we look worryingly weak.

I just thought freeing up Brayford's wages would have paid Morsy's for a season. That's before the money we've made from our sales but we move on.
If we do still recruit a replacement for Basham il be happy.

if it was sucessfull or not will be determined at the end of the season.

However i have to say as it stands i am a bit disappointed.Like roy above i would of liked a quality signing in midfield and at the back. And i think over the season this will cost us.

Now before everybody jumps on this im not saying it was all bad. Our new cb's are good signings if they were back up like they were supposed to be. Moores a good signing, lavery and clarke too imo.I like fleck.
Im disappointed with the loans, thought we could make better permanant signings

Very successful to a blades fan, as something has actually happened!!!
Fuck me, wait while McCabe gets back from his summer holidays to find that Chris lad has found his cheque book and brought in 12 new faces!!!!!
He's going to shit himself, have a heartattack and faint before he wakes and shoots himself!!!

Will this squad get promoted?
rWe`ve sold the last of the crown jewels so we`re kinda fucked if it dosen`t.

Only thing missing is a CM - it should be considered a successful transfer window given the wage reduction and the dross that we've had to get rid of, including serial wasters Hammond and Woolford (could be considered a successful window just on the fact that those clowns are no longer with us)
However the CM position has been so clearly in need of improvement and this needs to be remedied in January definitely.

how long do we have, is there one coming?

Lots of players, but mostly very questionable quality and we haven't got the balance right in terms of the positions they are in. 3 wingers we have signed ffs, including one 18 year old kid. 2 LB's. Those positions didn't need that many signings. That's at least 1 CM, and 1 proper goalscorer we could have got instead had we been sensible and only signed 2 wingers (at the most) and 1 good left back that we didn't have to replace almost immediately due to his lack of ability.

If they gel as a team and perform, then yes. If not, just as bad as all the others. It doesn't matter how many or what position(s) we've brought in, the only measure that counts is on the pitch IMO. At least we appear to have addressed some of our weaknesses, let's just hope we've improved the quality ;)

We've cleared out a lot of the dross in the squad.

I'll admit that I need to see more of most of our signings as don't know huge amounts about all of them.

But Chapman looks to have a spark
Hopefully Lavery will add some pace to the side
I like the looks of Fleck
Moore looks like he may do a good job.

But we've sold good players - that would have improced.
Still look short in CM and;
Still unconvinced we have a bullet proof centre half pairing.

How do we know until they pull on the shirt? Hussy came with a good reputation , and let's not forget the hullabuloo over Hammonds signing, so best to wait and see.

Ok so I just read what you put and can't 100% see how this is successful. We have needed to bring in 2 players on loan because of the shit we have brought in previously, so these will need replacing again because they are loans and not perminent. I don't see why if we sell players we can't replace by buying instead of loaning. I personally don't see these 3 additions making this into an exciting team all of a sudden, as up until now we have been extremely average.

Yes and no.

Yes he's got players and cover for most positions (midfield?)

No he's missed nearly every primary target rumoured (fleck/Clarke could be exceptions)

No because I don't see a leader in the new signings so Billy still captain?

When you think what Phipps said last January it could have been a lot worse.

I didn't think we would be automatic promotion contenders before the season started and we don't do play offs so I am not as down about it as some seem to be.

I just hope we start to at least stabilise and pull away from that Bottom four over the next month.

Well, forgive my negativity, but the squad looks like a bang average League 1 squad in nearly every position. There is no longer a single player in that side where you think 'God, we had better not sell him'.
We won't finish above half way because we are just plain all over the pitch.

It depends how you define "successful." The key areas we needed to strengthen, which were central midfield and central defence, we have improved upon, but not to the required standard. In fact I think that goes for all over the park. I'm still unsure what system Wilder plans to play, it's seemed a little haphazard to me. Overall I'd have to say it's been unsuccessful and I'm disappointed with the quality we've brought in. I think Fleck and Clarke are good players, but we haven't found a system that suits them and nobody has a bad thing to say about Lafferty, so he should do a job at left full back. Also Moore already looks a big improvement on Long. However, outside of that, I don't think we've built a squad strong enough to challenge at the top end of the division.

And yet again we've gotten rid of everything we could and have been fed lies from the board, which is a sad state of affairs. I'll always love this football club, but I can't stand the way it's run and the way we're treated as loyal consumers.

What "lies", precisely? (Serious question.)

Ask the following questions regarding the best 11.

1. Has the defence, midfield and forwards been strengthened considerably since last season.

2. And has it been improved as above since the Bolton game?

To one.....Defence no better, no worse.
Midfield...no better, no worse
Forwards...a little better.

2. Defence....No.
Midfield...No
Forwards...a little better.

So for me, player wise/talent we are no better off IMHO. Whether the players have it in them to come together, and for Wilder to be more savvy tactically time will tell. But at this point I predict no better place in the table than last season sadly.
