Good moro,

I'm making the trip from London to go to the game and wondered if anyone would be up for a few beers before the game? Be good to meet some more of you and I'll be all on me tod, apart from possibly a mate from Uni.

Suggestions and invitations appreciated!

p.s. I think we are going to win and will be using positivity accordingly.

The barrel.
Depresses the hell out of me, but my old man likes it there

Whenever we travel across we go to The Lord Nelson, for reasons I still don't quite understand.

Royal Standard for me. You're more than welcome to join us in the back room near the pool table!!

UTB

Last time I came down I went to the Golden Lion pre and post match and thought it was OK.

This time I've been tipped the wink about the Devonshire Cat, a place I didn't go to last time.

What's the verdict on here on that place?

Great variety of Uk and continental Beers, not really sold on it as a pub though.

Bit of a trek if you don't know Sheffield too my Plastic Whistle friend.

In general terms, I wouldn't say there is a designated S2 pub, but there will be S2 posters in pretty much all the pubs round the ground. A goodly number can be found dotted around the Rutland.

sits back and waits waits for the DC officianado BoSS to come along

2 Quid a pint and a good one at that in the Sheaf on Bramall Lane, can get a bit rammed though.

Whats not to like?
Close to the Lane, gets full but its great service. Footy on box.
Also, the best pint of Guinness in Sheffield.

Haha I know Sheffield pretty well but I wondered where you lot go. Almost every time I go these days I escort my mother for the evening so I dont tend to hit up the pubs.

15 minute walk according to Google maps.
Anyhow, I'll be arriving early afternoon then straight down from the station to get my ticket then to my digs to dump my gear.
I'll then probably go to the Devonshire Cat for one or two to see what it's like then down towards the ground, most likely to the Golden Lion or The Sheaf Island.

I asked this on another thread, but is there likely to be any restriction on movement of fans in streets outside the ground due to segregation because of the size of the away support?

It looks like my biggest concern will be getting back up the road on Thursday if the weather forecast is accurate!

The choice of ales in the Dev Cat is not as varied as it used to be before Abbeydale took over, too many variations on the pale theme for me. One game just before Xmas there were 10 pale or blonde ales, the house bitter and house stout, not a winter beer to be seen. They seem to have decided against stocking other local breweries and whilst they get some good ones in from Derby and Nottingham it is the lack of variety that I miss.

Also they seem to be chasing a different crowd and really don't seem bothered about the people who've been going there on match days for a fair few years.

You fancy meeting up if you're on your own Jaggy?

Feel like Alan Partridge when he asks the guy from Curries for a pint after work.

Dev Cat is OK, we use it 'cus our lasses parking spot is close but Red Lion is my favourite.

Used to be fantastic and had Jaipur and good food. Now there is no Jaipur, or Farmers Blonds and the food is well-overpriced. 18 months ago I would have said see you there, but now? No chance. I go to the Wetherspoons on Sheaf Island (Old Wards Brewery on Ecclesall Road)

Heaven forbid meeting anybody on here, couldn't stand the adulation frankly. Only ever told one bloke what my nickname was, regretted it ever since. Love you though Pete!

You'll be able to spot them, there'll be a couple of old drunkards in the corner!
Why has SF grown even bigger? Haha. I'm going corporate for this one Sooty.

Generally though your observations have a hint of truth about them. Bar steward haha

If you like singing Penny Arcade again and again, along with other classics, then the golden is for you.
