Luke McCormick. The same bloke who did kill 2 children after taking to the wheel whilst being pissed out of his tree, the same bloke who now spends his free time by volunteering to go in to the drink driving courses put on by Devon and Cornwall constabulary to explain to all what it was like to kill 2 children through his own negligence, explain how he felt when he got told that his actions had killed 2 boys and how he never realised just how potentially stupid and dangerous what he did was.

The difficulty with the comparisons with McCormick, Hughes and even our own Jordan Robertson and Ched Evans is the whole issue of intent. With the death by dangerous driving / drunk driving cases the difficulty is always the conflict between the outcome of the crime and the crime itself. Essentially the difference is one of intent, whilst it is a crime to drink over the legal limit and drive or use a mobile phone while driving, these offences do not have at their core the deliberate intent to do others harm. However, as was seen with Hughes, McCormick and Robertson such actions can have horrific consequences and people died, however, the perpetrators did not intend for this to happen. I appreciate this will be no comfort at all to the victims, but this is the way the law views such instances.

With Ched, one may argue the rights and wrongs of his conviction, but he is currently a convicted rapist, and rape can never and should never be viewed as the unintended consequence of a different crime.

I believe that death by dangerous driving / drink driving should carry stronger sentences, but at the moment they don't. I also think that the only difference between someone like Luke McCormick and say Tony Adams is luck, they were both drink driving Tony Adams just got lucky that some poor family wasn't coming the other way the night he decided to get pissed up and drive home.

If he does that its part of his rehab and Im sure the guilt will live with him for the rest of his life
But at the end of the day he wiped a family out he should serve at least 10 years inside
