After reading those comments I feel a bit hopeful of a result and maybe all 3 points.

Football is a funny old game though. They are very lacking in confidence, but this is also our toughest game of the season to date.

“Seems like we have no plan B when teams press high and stop us playing.”

Good.

“Sheff Utd are a big and strong powerful unit …… we need to match that”

Obviously.

Kudos to the guy who likened Sharp to Edwards (obvious to us) this guy knows his football.
Good news that the referee doesn't take shit after that performance where Scougall was thrown about the pitch for fun we need a good ref.

looking forward to this game , a real good sign post of our current strength, application is key , we impose ourselves on them it can swing it in our favour

Think it deserves the full quote to appreciate what they meant...

“Hopefully Sheff U are confident enough to come here on Saturday and not worry about trying to stop us playing. Seems like we have no plan B when teams press high and stop us playing.”

The reason we're getting the results we are is BECAUSE we press teams and stop them playing, allowing us to win the ball back early and higher up the pitch.

If they think we're just a side with flair that waits for the ball to come to us, then they miss how we are beating sides.

But as you alluded to Ricky this is good if they can't cope with this style of play

Why do opposing fans still see us as a big team? Take out the centre backs and we must stilll be one of the the smallest in the league.

Because people have an image in their head of how a team plays that usually comes from their youth and that image never changes. West Ham play good football, Millwall is a tough place to go and United are managed by Dave Bassett and have Billy Whitehurst up front

Yes, we're always 'good at set pieces'.

This season our change in style is that we now do press the opposition, especially their defenders
And it's working so well. Done lacks some quality but his pressing for 90 mins is unbelievable.

Being a big and strong unit is exactly the opposite of what we've been for several seasons.
He should be saying we are a high tempo hardworking side that run through brick wallls and they need to match that. It's only the 2 new central defenders that are big and powerful.

Previous managers have been too obsessesed with playing a keep possession passing game.
We've often looked good around the centre circle but our attacks are too slow and we've lacked ideas around their box. This season we are much quicker, can still pass it well but also can be direct when required.

Previous seasons weve been one dimensional.
Now going forward we have options we cut through Shrewsbury like a knife through butter with up tempo passing football second half it was relentless.

John Moss is the referee apparently. Get Billy rolling around in the area, this one always buys a dive.

Part of the key to recent form IMHO is that even our flair players are grafters.

It's stereotypical but often true that a lot of the supposedly quality ball players at this level rely on other more physically fit players around them to do the hard yards.

I'll throw Bradley Dack in there for one. Perhaps harsh, but he looked about half a stone overweight when we beat them. Jose Baxter is another good example.

At present, you've got Fleck who was more than happy to run 50 yards to show his determination to get us a goal against Vale and he gets stuck in. More and more you are seeing Coutts tracking back and putting himself about as well as venturing forward into shooting positions. All of which seemed optional extras to him in previous seasons. Then you've got Duffy, a very busy player. Up front, both Done and Sharp's hallmarks are hard work too.

It's very difficult to beat a team who has better players AND who work harder than you from 1 to 11. Lafferty is improving and has bought into this ethos and Freeman has also shown a new lease of life and has always had high energy to his game.

Not everything will go our way but we have somehow arrived at a formula of having all the qualities of a Warnock team's work ethic yet have also managed to get some very good footballers into the team.

Let's be fair, Chris had 4 matches where the players were adjusting but 23 points then from a possible 27 is a remarkable run of form. Going on last year's promotion on 85 points and the form of the past 9 matches, you'd be promoted by mid-March!

That's how good a job he's been doing.

Keep on keeping on!

Agreed, but I've noticed eel seems to like a bit of holding and grappling so he needs to be careful too.

“We’re second but I can’t say our immediate form is impressive or even that encouraging.... we’re changing the line up every week and no one has a clue of our best starting 11.”

Now where have I heard THAT before?!

Interesting that they are hoping we don't use the high press against them; that's been a hallmark of our recent good run. I expect we will use that tactic once more so that could be a route into a winning position. Key will be if McCall knows that and does something to prevent that; the long punt to Hanson maybe? It could come down to EEL vs. Hanson if that is the case.

I think it'll be a tight 1-1.

Imagine if Moore was lame.
Wilder would have to recall the Boy George, Long.

I've been away, easing myself back into the pendulum of S2 motion, be patient.

Cheers as always Roy

Will be happy with a point to keep the unbeaten run going away to a side that seem decent based on league table, but would love three
