"Blades, I appreciate your inputs and expressions support/frustration. For the benefit of your sanity and mine, I invite you all to take a breather between now and the end of the weekend. I know you do not want to miss out on hearing the news as soon as it's out. The anticipation is huge, we know. There will not, however, be an announcement over the weekend. We are working with purpose and deliberation to make the right deal for the Club. I will give you the signal, when it is time to tune in. Please, enjoy the weekend! UTB!"

On fb just now.

Hanging on til Monday to see if Robbo tells MK to do one?

"working with purpose and deliberation" ? That doesn't sound right.

The right deal for the club?

Just added:

Thank you. And to all to whom I have not replied this week, which is almost everyone, please accept my apologies. My silence has been deliberate. The process we are engaged is not best conducted in public.

His English is a bit garbled in this and OP. The pressure's on :)

Not sure about anyone else involved in the process but I have faith in Phipps. I hope it's not misplaced.

"working with purpose and deliberation" and "make the deal right for the club"

this tells me two things
  • we are a bit far away from securing a manager
  • contracts and money are proving to be an issue
or it's fallen apart with our choices (numbers 1, 2 and 3) and we're starting on a new list.

It's the Blades Way

Morgan it is then.

I thought Mike "compulsory reading" Stephenson said it would definitely be today or tomorrow?

No. He then got so confident as to change it to yesterday or today.

I don't know who's worse. The ones claiming to have inside info, or the ones that hang off every word of it.

Am I the only one on here who reads this and thinks 'ok, thanks for the heads up Jim. I guess you understand how we feel then'.

Not 'it's the blades way, we've funked up again, Warnock knocked us, Bassett was busy and Parkinson is picky. Oh and we've sold the gold, trained a rapist and the pitch is actually made of glass fibre'

Come on boys and girls, if Jimbo Baggpus didn't have our best interests at heart he wouldn't have sacked NC.

Now, where's that red wine gone?

Adkins deal is on hold, still not paid of from Reading fully.

May well be wrong, but this doesn't strike me as being a statement posted just before a bad appointment that not many hoped for. I think if they knew they were going to appoint someone that wasn't a fans favourite, Jim definitely wouldn't do something like this.

It seems to me like they are deliberating but most fans would be happy with the outcome, which hopefully rules out Parkinson. Also, i can see Adkins prompting a few contractual discussions with the wages that he would demand and rightly so.

and secondly.... it is really about time we had someone who can handle these contract negoiations better..............

how many times do we lose out on our number 1 or even 2 choices or players because we didnt negoitate correctly.

someone needs to be put on a sales course me thinks................

I can only think that the Parkinson rumour is intended purely so that when they do make the usual underwhelming appointment, people will console themselves that, it could be worse, it could've been Phil Parkinson :(
At the same time though, why would Bradford chairman come out and say we've approached them?

I will give you the signal, when it is time to tune in.

A signal...he will give us a signal...in the car park...

Actually, we might be pleasantly surprised KG, we don't actually know the outcome, our "approach" for Parkinson might be a smoke screen. The delay could be tactical to exit our Karl from his contract and Jim (a Yank who are natural sales and negotiation specialist) is firmly in charge and keeping fans on board.

If HRH can chuck a million squid at the pitch and pay off NC's team he means business and will buy us who we need. It won't be in his interest to go cheap, fail and have to go home defeated. It's the new Bladey Blade way!

Give our board and management team some credit.

But let them come home with Parkinson and I'm on the keyboard all season (unless he turns out to be the new Alex Ferguson and I'll claim credit for supporting their choice) that's the old Bladey Blade way

The right deal for the club?

That's the bit that worries me :(
It's the right man that is needed.
(Not the best deal/price)
He will make you money and not have a real cost.
It's not as if they're all the same like something you buy from a shop.
Most of them you would be able to take back under the Sale of goods Act as 'not fit for purpose' :(
