Really? You think he said that?

All I can hear is "I need to find a solution" almost playing on loop.

I don't think it's a good interview at all. I think he waffles for 7 and a half minutes.

Disagree. He was asked if the squad were in need of major surgery and his response makes it clear what he thinks. Also saying he can;t comment because he has to get the team up for Saturday (ie, he can;t say they are shit)
His comments about the dressing room
Refusing to defend them against the chanting.

I'm left in no uncertainty of what he thinks of the current squad of players and I'm reassured that he sounds as pissed off as I feel.

I'm actually feeling more positive now and may dream of Clough getting a job and buying one and getting 6 free.

I'm normally highly critical of his interviews but this one is really good. He basically says the players are shit and shitheads http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p039271y

Has there been an off-the-field bust-up? He mentioned a couple of times "situations arising" in a vagueness that suggested something not quite right.

He's clearly utterly disappointed with the team. I can see quite a few changes for the Barnsley game.

First decent interview I've heard from him, but in relation to consequences, what consequences will they be then, swapping Collins for Mceveley, dropping someone else who's shite and replacing them with another member of our bloated squad who is equally shite. We're stuck now Nigel, until at least any new signings are made, these group of players are going to keep losing you football matches.

Possibly the most uninspiring interview from a Sheffield United manager I've ever heard. He's so obviously lost the players and doesn't have an answer. Lose Saturday and it's curtains.

It would be great news if he had actually lost the players.

I imagine they'd be too stupid to find their way back here anyway.

He is clearly at a loss over what to do. He has one hell of a task to convince anyone that this squad is shite. He could start by getting rid of all the dross on loan.

He's convinced me Dingledog :), know what you mean though, spot on about the loanees.

Sorry sounds like the same tired old guff to me.
I disagree. Think he finally realises what we have seen for too long. He has been over positive in previous interviews, making excuses because maybe believing he needs to keep encouraging players through positivity but has finally seen that it hasn't worked and if anything performances are getting worse.
Does mention too big a squad, of basically poor players (my take on it anyway) and knows we need a smaller, better squad. I got the feeling that he was alluding to something not right in the team either. Maybe a few too many think they've made it, not be as professional as the should be and can spend their leisure time socialising too much. Who knows? Problem is, as we all know, who will want them? If our top scorer from last season is now playing in the 4th tier where will the rest of them end up? Which teams could afford their wages and why would the players want to go anyway?

I was starting to doubt Adkins, not least for his interviews after another poor game and his signings but
I think it has suddenly hit home to Adkins the mess he has on his hands. If so I might just feel a little bit more optimistic than I did 2 hours ago.

Yup he's clearly admitting there are issues, but he's right not to air them, as much as he'd like to.

It must be crap being a manager when the source of your problems are same players you have to pick every week.

His best one yet. I'm usually critical of his post-match interviews but thought he was straight talking tonight. He dropped the waffle and avoided usual cliches.

It also sounded as though tonight's defeat hurt - which is good, because we're hurting too Nigel.

It must, and his reputation is fast going down the pan with them but i really do think there has been a change in his attitude tonight. We'll see, but I certainly hope so.
Has a lot of work to do and very little room to manoeuvre, too big a squad of poor players that will be hard to move on, but that is the same for any manager. At present Adkins is as good as any other. It's the players who need to go first and if he can start being more honest about the performances and players and the issues he is facing then i am sure he will regain support from the vast majority of fans.

That performance tonight hurt like hell
I've not come out of BDTBL feeling the way I did tonight sick to the pit of my stomach and do I have an answer to it all NO
Adkins has got a huge job on his hands to lift the players for Saturday who ever he picks , really don't know what effects of "your not fit to wear the shirt" will have on the players(even though I feel it was justified for once)
Just a couple of points what you could call basic errors from Adkins
1, three subs at half time?? Imagine long getting injured early second half
2 removal of Baxter at half time one of the better players(gulp) first half
3 losing and bringing 2 CH on????

Keep the faith
UTB and FTP

Disagree, best and most open interview we've had from him, better than being in denial, hoping this might at last be a turning point, otherwise it is even bleaker. Staton as interviewer asked the right questoins as well tonight, they often get slated for not doing.

Agreed. Good questions, and I liked Adkins' responses

"The next goal was always going to the important one"

Heard that one too many time over the last few weeks, and that is a point you have to be pretty fucking stupid not to realise.

Sounded like it finally hit home some of this squad are useless. I also get the impression some of these players know their time is up with us and are making things difficult.

Like Adkins said there will be consequences. The squad is too big.

I think anyone would after that defeat.

Wasn't there, so can't comment.

Most telling part for me is when he's invited to comment on the squad, basically says he won't slate them because he doesn't want to dent their confidence for Saturday. He's given up on promotion, that's for sure. Around 3 minutes in.

I wouldn't write off this season just yet. Look what Clough did with Weir's squad (and a few January additions) in his first season. Clough was appointed on Oct 23 when we had just 9 points from 13 games. We finished 7th, and almost made the Play Offs, (not to mention coming within touching distance of the FA Cup Final and the Europa League)

Currently we have 26 points from 19 games, just 5 points off the play offs and 11 off automatic. The season starts at Barnsley on Saturday, hopefully with the Beard in the dugout at least.

He basically inferred that the squad is not good enough, but wouldn't actually say it for fear of hurting their feelings then it was a load of the usual, "we go again" waffly bollocks.

Smacked of someone who hasn't got a fuckin clue to me, he will keep rolling out the same shit, (without actually taking any responsibility himself) to get to the JTW, there will then be 6 or 7 panic ins and outs and we will all "go again" before being forced to settle for the same owd shite.

We are a L1 club, we have no right to think we just need to turn up, get shot of the prima-donnas and let them try and find something better if they think they are so special.
