Potential to be the signing of the season. I'm very impressed by him, looks a notch above.

He is making average players at the back look good , with organisation skills. For all his doubters , Reed had a good game today. Top players make hard things look easy.

Thats what the best players do. He has shored up the back line pretty much on his own. This is why another centre half is a nice to have rather than a must have. Obviously if he gets injured/suspended we need to think about a replacement but right now its all like clockwork.

He just strolls around and never looks under pressure. Has the composure and calmness of a top PL defender. We should do everything we can to turn the signing into a permanent one.

Only seen him twice but looked outstanding at this level. Does anyone know what the terms of his loan are? Is it season long with no chance he can be recalled or Is there a break clause. So far he looks to be the piece in the jig saw which has really sorted the defence and hence the team so if there is any chance he can go back we need to sign him permanently in my view.

Although it is early days, the single signing of David Edgar plus the reorganising of the back 4 has transformed an average team into something that could now grow into the season.

The subtle but necessary moving of McE to full back and the apparent successful re-introduction of Collins is a testament to Adkins, Wilkins and the management team.

Whilst it might be hard on Freeman, Brayford is to come back in which could only make the defence better.

Basham now appears to have a new role - box to box under Clough, but sitting deeper and staying under Adkins and looking to break up the oppositions play. Reed apparently played well yesterday as well - perhaps we have found our elusive strength in midfield?

Just waiting now for the Baxter fans to chirp up. Sorry, we have seen Baxters game at this level and it's not capable of getting us out of this division. Perhaps Fulham was a small blessing in disguise which helps to turn our season from something good to something very good.

A key factor in our defensive improvement is Collins.

I don't think he's any good playing as the main central defender defending crosses etc.
Collins was great when partnered with Maguire because Collins let Maguire do the main stuff and Collins would sweep up to cover any mistakes.

When Collins was partnered with Mcevely he became the main central defender and tried to do too much.

Now that Collins has a leading central defender in Edgar next to him he looks much more comfortable.

It's a funny game football, it's not just about individual performance but the effect/ influence on a team too.

With Edgar we've not only brought in an excellent central defender
But him in the team has also made Collins play well and Howard looks much better too.

Howard's main weakness is commanding his area and coming for crosses.
Well now his weakness is not an issue because Edgar and Collins command the area.

Second thoughts, he was part of a Canadian defence that conceded a goal against BELIZE (WHO ARE THEY?!)!!!
SEND HIM BACK!!!


In all seriousness just to quash any fears, he's come through it unscathed. No injuries or knocks, just 180 minutes more football under his belt.
