When Wilder came in May he said and I can't recall the exact quote that he wanted players who could last a season and play 40 + games.

What are the appearance stats of the 3 we've signed?

Also can someone do a full list of ins and outs since May?

It was one of those posts that's posted for the sake of posting. Why not post it after 40 games, it might be worth reading then. Zzzzzzzzzzzzz.

On the face of it some of the signings Wilder has made don't exactly capture the imagination. Let's give them a chance though eh?. You don't always need star names to get you to where you want to be. (Burton?) a good work ethic and team spirit can work wonders. On paper we don't look like we quite have what it takes to go up but a bit of patience and who knows. They've come to a big club with huge expectations and the pressures that go with it but they also have the opportunity to become heros and get us out of this bloody division. Only time will tell

Because I am up with the boy and he is watching Peppa Pig

Transfers in and outs before yesterday

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016–17_Sheffield_United_F.C._season

Also Left

Marc McNulty - Loan Bradford
K Wallace - Loan Fleetwood
DCL - Everton

In

Danny Lafferty - Burnley to Sheffield United, season loan - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Lafferty
Ethan Ebanks-Landell - Wolves to Sheffield United, season loan - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethan_Ebanks-Landell

Note that the appearences for Burnley and Wolves were over the their period with the club and not just the season they joined.

Like everyone, I would have liked a few more quality signigs, however unlike most I didn't see Morgan or Webster as being that big an upgrade worthy of paying £1m for. We have more of a compact squad however we still have almost 2 teams before going into the youth.

Moore
Freeman
Wilson
O'Connell
Lafferty
Coutts
Fleck
Duffy
Scougall
Done
Sharp

Long
Ebanks-Landell
Wright
Semple *
Hussey
Basham
Whiteman
Reed
Lavery
Chapman
Clarke

Is this good enough? I don't know but if they all get behind Wilder and we get on a roll who knows. Let's just not wallow in self pity.

Yeah I think its a big thing for Wilder, he wants players that will make themselves available. From what we've seen in the past couple of years, we haven't always had this.

I think its perhaps more about Commitment rather than past records of appearances. Wilder will have looked at the attitudes of players before he signed them and we can guarantee that he will be monitoring attitudes of players at the club. If they don't want to play, if they don't have the attitude, if they rather sit back and take the money, they won't be here by the summer.

Must say he's been far more ruthless than his predecessor ie Long Hussey - Adkins would have persisted like he did with Sammon.

Thanks - owing to my 2 year old I know peppa off by heart.

Think the squad overall looks better but worry about midfield.

Yeah and i think there will be occasions where he does persist, perhaps with Basham, but he has shown what his requirements are for players.

In terms of numbers for the midfield 2 I think we have it right, but obviously question marks against Basham and Coutts. I thought they both had good 2nd halves against Oxford and need to build on that.

I am now watching in the Night Garden. Wish I still did the drugs for this one!

Not seen them play together, but really can't see the combination working, just don't see Basham as a central midfielder. Coutts is steady and can play the ball at least.

This is the most frustrating thing with James Wallace, If he got fit, he could easily run the midfield with Fleck.

As ever my expectations were to high but I give CW credit, it's a total shit fest he's taken on resolving the errors of McCabe and his earlier managerial appointments. Think he's tried to get key targets like Morgan, Mcfazden et al and failed for a few reasons. He's overestimated the pulling power of sufc, he's been limited in what he can pay in transfer fees and possibly underestimated wages at this level. That plus a shit start to the season must have made it difficult before deadline day.
But he now has his team put together so we need to see if he can make them perform. Good luck to him because unlike previous seasons we now have a squad that on paper looks like a 3rd tier club not a bunch of names that should be breezing this league.

I knew every episode of Postman Pat word for word when mine was 2 years old. Enjoy it. They are the best years

You would get better odds winning the Lottery. Forget him, he's toast.

Postman pat is in dispute at this time with the unions over allegations of taking his cat to work. Also the Bastard Tories are trying to privatise them so he's worried he may have to do some work.

As far as I know we have very few players with unreliable fitness records in our squad.

The only ones who'd surprise me by being available for 40+ games are Coutts, Scougall and maybe Clarke.

I can't wait until someone tries to actually answer your post properly instead of them thinking your slagging the club off.

Not every player will be a success but not every player will be a failure ,it all depends how they blend as a team. Wilder has the job of putting a team together and it takes time. It also doesn't matter how much you spend on a player ,you don't know what you are going to get ,Man utd Man city Liverpool all the big money teams have bought players with great reputations for tens of millions each ,and they have been abject failures. We just have to hope the players rise to it and Wilder and Knill can get a team who can play together and fight together.

I though this thread was going to be a review of @LS26 latest specialist interest magazine.

Don't get it sometimes - it's hardly a 'slagging off' post or 'doom and gloom' post.

Seems being rational gets folks backs up as well.

Feel like some sort of pound shop Lenners.

footballs like a box of chocolates
you never know what youll get
remember us signing an ex Weymouth player who had only scored 1 league goal in 15 league games at watford

why have we signed this no mark was heard around the place

no one had heard of Tony Agana

Spot on
Whether we like it or not we've got to show some patience and let the team develop together. It's bloody hard after 6 seasons and there are no guarantees but it's our only opportunity to progress. We've tried all other ways and failed. Time to give Wilder and the players a chance
