Come on then, frustrations of the afternoon out of the way and back to thinking pragmatically... Plenty similar in the other threads, but in isolation:

What are the ideal next 7 days work in your eyes?

Who would you like to see cross that white line against Palace?

REALISTIC please :)

Messi and 4 others that are PL standard and have trained most of the week with the squad.

Monty in as manager, Morgan as assitant and a new 3 year deal for ah Billy

Palmer, Akpom and another CM would be great before the Palace match, but being pragmatic, I reckon we'll only get one of those through the door, most likely Akpom.

Messi signs for us on loan. Anything less and season card goes in the bin!

Start of season delayed till after transfer window closes!

Sousa as someone who can mop up and win a tackle, and a left wing back please.

Akpom would be lovely before the end of the window, as would someone bigger as cover for McBurnie, and aye, someone creative, Cole Palmer would be lovely.

Plenty seem to see an attacking midfielder as our biggest priority.... I'd rather get someone to actually get a bleedin tackle in first, so the opposition don't just play a simple ball straight through our high press and break at Egan exposing his pace every 5 minutes.

And quicker served hot dogs. Cheers.

Is that the lad playing CL games for Man City? Maybe he’ll bring Phil with him too😂

Perfect world: Prince announces a takeover is complete and we’re now rich beyond our wildest dreams.

Realistic: Sign a couple of midfielders and McBurnie to be declared fit.

What will probably happen: “we go with what we’ve got” 🥲

The players realise they were sh1t today and this lack lustre performance will NOT happen again. They will also realize that they have to get out of first gear and into 5th gear. Pass quicker, close down quicker, play like a team and STOP SHOOTING DIRECTLY AT THE KEEPER.

Foderingham
Baldock
Ahmedhodzic
Egan
Robinson
Lowe (is he injured?)
Slimane
Norwood
Berge
Traore
Osula

Is how we line up likely
Thin isn't it

Some technicality to be found in the paperwork of the Ndiaye deal that means he actually did sign a contract with us and he lines up for us next week.

Someone in the team good enough to allow Berge and Slimane to be the more attacking midfielders and Osborn not to be on the pitch.

Trusty in the team and turn out to be good.

A decent LWB.

A forward of some kind of at least Championship calibre, PL calibre would be a big bonus.

Souza, Palmer and Akpom through the door. Trusty to start. Norwood and McBurnie to be fit. Jebbo to be fit. Fleck to be fit. Club gets sold and sacks El Accounto.

Oh and to not defend from our own corner with our deepest lying player almost in the attacking third of the pitchScreenshot_2023-08-05-18-56-10-22_f9ee0578fe1cc94de7482bd41accb329.jpg

Akpom would be great. He and Traore could be a formidable pairing.

Akpom, Archer, Palmer, Chukwuemeka, Souza, O'Brien, CB cover...

Few of those coming off would be good.
Reckon the Prem loans won't be for a while yet but Palmer and Chukwuemeka both seem realistic targets and both get into our starting 11.
Nixon says Souza isn't a goer and apparently Archer isn't available.
I didn't want Akpom to be honest but I cant really think of an alternative for that kind of money.

ST - Chuba Akpom (borough) Perm
MF - Lewis Baker (Stoke) Perm
MF - Tom Davies - Free
MF - Tommy Doyle - Loan
GK - Areola - Loan

Brewster & RND back in September.

Won’t happen but can wish!

After to-days dire performance the manager to consign the flat 3 to the dustbin and go back to 3-4-2-1 with two 10's. Berge to be pushed forward and fill one of them and a fit Mcb or Traore to fill the other spot. Definitely not Ben Osborn. Norwood to come in to take up the quarter back role. We have no one else at the moment. Slimane to drop into a deeper left side midfield role to protect our weak left hand side and to add a bit more muscle to counter the oppo. breaking at pace.

Lowe in at LWB simply because he's better than Laurouchi. Trusty has to be a shoe in at LCB. He's a quality player imo and has the pace to cope with Palace speedy forwards. JLT doesn't.

As for new signings the manager has repeated publicly again within a few days the need to get players in as we do not have the resources to compete. His comments about us having 4 of the first 6 at Home are well made. What he doesn't need to hear tomorrow from the owner is him stating we are waiting until the end of the transfer window to get the best targets in. I sense a disconnect is developing not helped by the continued leaking of information to third parties about our transfer strategy despite him expressing his concern about this practice.

For the good of the Club, the morale of the players, supporters and PH's sanity there needs to be a concerted effort by those responsible for transfers to deliver two quality signings in the next 7 days to counter the malaise that has been affecting all of us associated with SUFC since the Ndiaye bomb was dropped.
