In the final pre-season outing for the first team, Sheffield United were hosts to recently relegated Blackpool at Bramall Lane.
Starting with an unfamiliar first team midfield including Stephen Quinn, Erik Tønne, Lee Williamson and trialist Kevin McDonald the Blades began the match positively.
Bogdanovic was denied an embarrassing attempt at winning a penalty after 5 minutes, but then turned near-provider with a ball across the 6-yard box after a good Blades move down the right. Porter and Williamson were unable to get anything on the cross and it fell to left-back Alexander Krük who hit a well stuck effort over the Blackpool crossbar.
A second and more convincing shout for a Blades penalty was turned down approaching the 30 minute mark as Porter was blocked by Harris, before Quinn and McDonald went close to opening the scoring.
United dominated the majority of the first half and their persistance paid off just before half time when Bogdanovic played the ball to Tønne who had found space in the area, Tønne’s shot was saved by Gilks but the rebound fell to Porter who took no chances firing the ball into the roof of the net.
The second half was a little more disjointed, with the Blades looking far less convincing for their substitutions and Blackpool equalised as Sutherland fired past Blades substitute and trialist Matt Duke after a great touch by Taylor-Fletcher.
