So, it’s nearly Christmas again and following our first away win in quite some time, we’re feeling festive…
Whether you want to get your hands on an early Christmas present for yourself, or you want to bag a stocking filler for your Blades supporting friends and family, we’ve got you covered.
We’re giving away three great Blades related prizes, starting with the new “Folklore and Fables” book by John Garrett.
[fulltitle]About The Book[/fulltitle]
Two years ago, as part of the pre-season planning process for the match day programmes, Sheffield United programme editor Kevin Cookson approached Blades Supporter Liaison Officer John Garrett with the idea of John writing a regular article to appear in the programmes.
As one of the Club’s historians and founder of the Legends of the Lane museum facility, John has amassed a wealth of stories and tales relating to many of the great players and characters to have graced Bramall Lane down the years – add to this the fact that John Garrett is a lifelong fan from a long line of occasionally eccentric Blades and it would be fair to say that there was a good chance that it would work.
Folklore and Fables is now moving into its third season in the programme and still receives many compliments and plaudits from avid readers – as well as previously being crowned programme feature of the year. JG’s view on club history is seen through his own red and white tinted spectacles and being far from the usual statistics based recounting of days gone by – it relates to his life as a supporter growing up in a football mad family in the city of steel.
The book contains a collection of articles written taking “a different look” on some of the characters associated with Bramall Lane and Sheffield United.
Priced at £10.99 and printed by Sheffield’s own Pickard Communications, just a stone’s throw from Bramall Lane, it comes just at the right time if you are searching for a Christmas present for the Blade in your life, or simply want to sit down and enjoy a good read and, very occasionally, a bit of a chuckle!
If you aren’t lucky enough to win the competition, the book can be purchased in the Blades Superstore or via SUFC Direct.
