48 hours after sampling the delights of Rotherham United’s recently opened New York Stadium, the Blades send an XI up to the familiar surroundings of Hallam FC’s Sandygate Road Ground, the oldest ground in the world. Originally scheduled for the same night as the Blades visit to Rotherham, this fixture was moved and allows Blades fans the opportunity to take in both fixtures. After returning from Malta, an ever so slightly shorter trip sees the Blades visit neighbours Rotherham United for one of the first fixtures in their brand new, £20million home, the New York Stadium. After a disappointing season finishing 10th in League Two, during which ex-Blade Andy Scott was sacked, the Millers will be looking for a positive start in their new surroundings in the coming season. The Blades will kick off the first of two games as part of the training camp in Malta at an earlier time than originally advertised. Wilson’s men will face Maltese first division side Zejtun Corinthians at the Ta Qali Training Ground tomorrow (Monday 25th July), kicking off at 7pm, 30 minutes earlier than scheduled. The Blades kicked off their pre-season campaign with a 40 mile trip down the M1 to Ilkeston and the New Manor Ground. On an evening of mixed weather (glorious sunshine, followed by violent storms), the teams finished stalemate with the Maguire brothers grabbing a goal each to share the spoils. United included trialists Jack Dean, Luke Foster and Darryl Westlake in the squad, with a starting lineup seeing a blend of youth and experience.
